Attendance matters as early as kindergarten. Studies show children who miss too many days in kindergarten and first grade can struggle academically in later years. Students can suffer academically if they miss 10% of school days. This can be just one day every two weeks and can happen before you know it. Good attendance will help children do well in high school, college, and at work.

How can you help? • Plan vacations during non-school days • Schedule your child’s medical and dental appointments at the end of the school day • Make sure they go to school every day unless they are ill.

School safety is our top priority. Please help us ensure our drop off loop moves safely and efficiently by doing the following:

    • Do not park in the drop off loop
    • Pull as far forward as you can when dropping off students

(Do not stop by the gate)

    • Drive slowly and cautiously through the lot

The loop is now painted red. We are working closely with the Oakley Police Department to improve student safety. If you park in the red zone, an Oakley Police Department Officer may issue you a ticket.

Thank you for your cooperation to ensure student safety at

    Almond Grove.

    Mrs. Dalton Teacher

Congratulations to Mrs. Dalton for receiving recognition as Almond Grove’s Teacher of the Year.

Mrs. Dalton has worked in the Oakley Union Elementary School District for the past twenty years as a Speech Therapist. She received her degree in Communicative Disorders and has been an outstanding Speech Therapist working at the preschool, elementary and middle school levels. For the past four years, Nicola has been the speech therapist at Almond Grove. She has created an amazing speech and language program that focuses on the articulation and language needs of her students. She works with preschool through fifth grade students at Almond Grove and is a dynamic educator. Learning really comes alive in her speech classroom.

Walking into Mrs. Dalton’s classroom, you will see students practicing speech at stations, doing hands on games, participating in small group sessions that combine music and kinesthetic movement and students getting lots of opportunities to speak and enhance their language skills. In addition, Mrs. Dalton supports our OARS program where she pushes into the SAI classrooms and supports students social, emotional and language needs. Mrs. Dalton works in collaboration with our school counselor, psychologist, special education staff, and administrators to address the needs of all students. She is truly a team player and always puts students first!

Mrs. Dalton also brings school spirit alive throughout our Almond Grove Staff. She always has a positive outlook and spreads cheer and joy with staff wide events being on our Sunshine Committee. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, working out, having new adventures with her husband, family and friends, and reading.

One of our fourth graders had this to say about Mrs. Dalton-“When I moved to this school, I was worried I was going to have a bad speech teacher, but no I did not! Mrs. Dalton has guided me over the past three years and taught me to speak correctly. When I graduated from speech, I felt happy! Mrs. Dalton has helped me through all my speech years at Almond Grove. Now she can help other speech kids at school. “

We congratulate Mrs. Dalton on her Teacher of the Year recognition. She is so deserving of this award and we are so very proud to have her as part of our Almond Grove Mustang staff! Congratulations Mrs. Dalton!
